Mother's Day Gifts

Mother's Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is this weekend!

My mom is honestly a superhero. She has absolutely nailed it being a single mom since my dad passed away almost 3 years ago. She has done and sacrificed so much for my sister and I, and I know that no gift could ever repay her. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t spoil her with a gift or two. Gift giving is one of my love languages after all…

I’ve compiled a couple of last minute gift ideas (maybe some unconventional) to spoil your mom or the mother figure in your life.

Gifts For The Working Mom…

  • Organized Tote Bag. I love this one from Dagne Dover! It's a splurge, but will last forever.

  • Car Wash. Seems odd, but it gives mom that new car feel without the new car.

  • A reusable coffee set. My mom is a bigger caffeine addict than myself, so I can never go wrong with all things coffee. I love my KeepCup or these reusable metal straws.

  • The perfect planner. Erin Condren has custom planners and organizers for every person. This lesson planner for teachers is incredible.

Gifts You Can Do With Her…

  • Try a cooking class! I know of a few Austin places, like Sur La Table or Faraday’s Kitchen Store. Or don’t feel like paying for a class? Pick out a fancy recipe and go all out at home!

  • Paint With A Twist. Every town basically has some variety of this now. Group painting classes where you can bring your own drinks (Or not!). I did one of these with my mom and it was so fun.

  • Mani/Pedi Date. Can’t go wrong- especially this close to summer!

Gifts For The Hands On Mom…

  • DIY Flower Pots. Instead of buying her flowers, buy the supplies to plant your own. Spend the day getting your hands in the soil! You can even paint the flower pots.

  • DIY House Project. Mom have a house project she’s been wanting to tackle? Spend the day finally doing it! Put on some HGTV.

  • DIY Skincare/Spa Day. Put on some Gilmore Girls and do some homemade face masks and paint your nails!

Gifts For The Active Mom…

  • Try out ClassPass. This has been on my radar and I’m so excited to try out the 2 Week Free Trial. See if its available in your city and go check out a new class together!

  • Spend the day kayaking or paddle boarding on the lake.

  • Go on a nature hike. Austin has so many beautiful paths and greenbelts.

Gifts For Mom To Relax With…

  • Get Her A New Book. My favorite online book clubs are Belletrist, Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine, and The Nouvelle Club (check them out on Insta)! They come out with a new book every month and I always enjoy them.

  • Essential Oils Set. If your mom hasn’t hopped on this trend, I’m genuinely surprised. My mom is obsessed and her favorite brand is Doterra.

  • Lake Pajamas. SO COZY. Self explanatory. Buy yourself a matching set.

Gifts For Moms Who Like Nice Things…

Gifts For The Sentimental Mom

  • Do a mini-photoshoot either of yourself or you with your siblings, print the pictures out, and stick them in a nice frame!

  • Morse Code Necklace. I bought one like this from a local jewelry shop that spelled out ‘Mother’ and my mom loved it.

  • Got old artwork from your childhood? Frame a piece!

Mother’s Day doesn’t need to be a huge expense. It’s a day to show the mother figures in our lives how much we love and appreciate them. If that means face-timing from different cities, offering to make a meal, or just telling them how much you love and appreciate them then that’s all it has to be. I hope all of you have somebody like that to look up to in your life, and I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
